How engaged are population health management stakeholders and what do they view as key strategies, advantages and challenges in the population health movement? These questions were the focus of the population health e-Poll, conducted with stakeholders sponsored by MCOL and Population Health News in conjunction with the Population Health Web Summit, with results released this week.

Stakeholders were asked the following questions:
1. Please categorize your organization: Provider (Network / Hospital / Physician / Pharma / Other Provider); Payor (Health Plan / Employer / TPA / PBM / Gov); or Vendor/Other
2. Are you engaging in population health management (PHM)?
3. If you are engaging in PHM, what strategies has your organization developed?
4. If you are not engaging in PHM, what are your reasons?
5. Rank the potential advantages of PHM in order of priority (1=highest, 6=lowest)
6. Rank the potential challenges to developing a PHM program in order of significance (1=highest, 6=lowest)

The ePoll found that an overwhelming majority (88.9%) of respondents are engaging in population health management (PHM). Providers were the most likely respondent category to say their organization engaged in PHM at 94.9%, which was only slightly more than payors at 88.9% and vendor, or others, at 79.2%. Care coordination and patient engagement were the most popular forms of population health management, 70.3% of those surveyed said their organizations used these strategies.

Two lists were posted in healthsprocket regarding the results:
