- Limiting access to expensive treatments with little net benefit — 51 percent
- Promoting head-to-head trials of competing treatments — 50 percent
- Expanding access to free preventive care — 47 percent
- Using cost-effectiveness data to determine available treatments — 47 percent
- Expanding electronic health records — 35 percent
Notes: A total of 2,556 physicians responded to the survey, which was led by researchers from the Mayo Clinic. The figures reflect the percentage of respondents who said they are "very enthusiastic" about the following potential means of reducing healthcare costs.
