- Millennials are driving the retail trend: 34% of millennials prefer retail clinics & 25% prefer acute care clinics
- Millennials visit their primary care physicians less: Respondents ages 21 to 32 said they go to their primary care physician 61% of the time
- Younger patients depend more heavily on online information to select providers: 50% millennials & Gen-Xers use online reviews
- Younger generations use online information when selecting insurance: 50% of millennials & 52% of Gen-Xers compare insurance options online
- Younger generations are also more likely to forgo care because it is too expensive: 54% of millennials & 53% of Gen-Xers have put off care due to cost
Notes: This information comes from a survey commissioned by PNC Healthcare and conducted by Shapiro+Raj in January 2015 with a nationally representative sample of 5,092 American adults age 21+. The survey was primarily conducted online, supplemented with 300 telephone surveys.
